HMS Ocean

Friday evening we watched the Royal Navy's biggest ship come up the Thames river and anchor at Greenwich.  The helicopter carrier is here to defend London during the Olympics and will focus on air and water security. A 50 kilometer radius of London air space is now closed until August 15 th, to any aircraft except scheduled commercial flights.  The Royal Air Force is prepared to use lethal force during the games.  Trained snipers are aboard the carrier with experience of shooting the engines of fast moving vessels in the fight against the Caribbean drug trade.  Second pic shows the bow gunner with our home, Canary Wharf in the background.  There will be a huge presence of military force here for the games along with local police and private security staff.  The city has done an amazing job of preparing for the Olympics and we will enjoy being part of it.  I will try to follow the Olympics as best as I can with blog stories and Face Book albums.  You might get tired of my blab and lack of writing skills, sorry that won't change much ... but you just can't resist my wit and charm.
