Thriller

We were out on London's West End last night to see the musical 'Thriller'. It was shown at the 1000 seat, 4 level Lyric Theater, which opened in 1888. It was a rather uplifting show with incredible choreography and songs from the Jackson 5 through the solo career of Michael Jackson. Again we saw some amazing talent of singers and dancers that most London shows are known for. This was the only show we've seen that actually got the entire audience up dancing. My kind of show...then the party carried on in the street and progressed from no street drinking to controlled drinking. You gotta love this place!

Christina O Tour

Today I had the honor of being the first to board the Christina O when it officially opened for tours here in Canary Wharf, London. I had posted a blog about the Onassis owned Mega Yacht earlier but now you get the inside tour. I put protective covers on my shoes and was given a handheld device that narrated my tour. The staff were helpful and well versed on everything about the historical yacht. The who's who list of celebrities and world leaders who spent time aboard was impressive, which included me. Check the picture of the bar with stools upholstered from whale foreskins. I'm not kidding. I'd have to through down a few before sitting on one, and I'd still be nervous. Moby Dick lives on. The grand stair case fit the elegant theme that was used throughout. Onassis bought this Canadian ship in the early 50's for $350,000, and did a 4 million dollar make over. It is now privately owned.  Great Tour!

HMS Liverpool

Here at our dock is the HMS Liverpool which is a type 42 Destroyer, built in 1980. This is her final stop before being decommissioned after 30 years of service. In March 2011 the Liverpool took part in the NATO blockade of Lybia during their civil war. In August 2011 she took fire from a pro-Gaddafi Loyalist shore battery. Big Mistake! Together with NATO aircraft she stood her ground well by taking out the shore battery and destroying a Gaddafi convoy, firing 54, 4 1/2 inch shells.
I say it is outstanding that the Royal Navy would take the time to come here and open the ship for tours. It gives us land lubbers a small idea of what they do for us. YOU GUYS ROCK!
Lower shot from our flat, of the tugs bringing the Liverpool in.
